Adventure Learning Crystal Palace Park launched in September 2016 through the charity Wide Horizons on their successful funding bid to Bromley’s Crystal Palace Park Community Fund. The initial programme of curriculum-linked adventures was developed by Hugh Dames (Level 3 Forest School Leader) in partnership with local teachers and it continues to evolve and grow. Hugh has led and delivered the programme since its inception.

Hugh has worked in education for the last 18 years and most of this time has been focused on learning environments. His experience includes school estate policy for the Scottish Executive, Project Management of national demonstration participatory school design projects for School Works, a DFE core funded education think tank, and Client Design Project Management of new and refurbished schools for the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Hugh also researched and co-produced two of the largest International school environment events in the UK – Design for Learning for the Scottish Executive and OECD, and The Global Learning Environment Summit for the BCSE, DfES and OECD. These were about introducing transformational learning environments from around the globe to the UK. Hugh’s previous work leading Forest Schools and the Adventure Learning in Crystal Palace Park is very much a continuation of this work.

Wide Horizons ceased trading on July 31 2018 and the programme now continues under the umbrella of The  Friends of Crystal Palace Park suppported by the Crystal Palace Community Development Trust
